Dr. Janna Skinner, DC

About Dr. Janna Skinner

A Houston native, Dr. Janna Skinner earned her undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin before completing her Doctor of Chiropractic degree at Texas Chiropractic College, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Dr. Skinner’s path to chiropractic was forged through sport. A competitive gymnast in her early years, she went on to compete in club volleyball and track and field, specializing in pole vault. It was a pole vaulting injury—and the chiropractic care that brought her back—that introduced her to the profession she would come to love. That experience as a patient continues to shape how she cares for her own.

Her athletic background is the foundation of her clinical approach. Dr. Skinner has cultivated deep expertise in myofascial release, soft tissue therapy, and targeted rehabilitation, treating everyone from athletes recovering from acute injury to patients managing chronic pain from posture, repetitive stress, or the demands of daily life. Rather than chasing symptoms, she works to identify the root cause—then equips each patient with the knowledge and tools to sustain recovery and perform at their best.

That philosophy is matched by a commitment to care that is exceptional, individualized, and built around one goal: returning patients to the activities they love and the active, healthy lives they want to lead.

A lifelong athlete, Dr. Skinner remains as active as her patients. She can often be found playing indoor and sand volleyball across Houston, along with pickleball and tennis. Away from the court and the clinic, she enjoys country dancing, golf, running, reading, Pilates, swimming, biking, and time with friends and family.

What to Expect at Your First Visit

When you schedule your first appointment with Dr. Janna Skinner, DC, you can expect a thorough and focused evaluation from start to finish. Your initial visit begins with a detailed conversation about your health history, current symptoms, activity level, and personal goals. This helps your provider understand the full picture before any hands-on assessment begins.

From there, Janna will perform a comprehensive physical evaluation, including movement screening, strength testing, and targeted orthopedic assessments relevant to your condition. Every finding is explained clearly so you understand exactly what is happening in your body and why.

Before you leave, you will have a personalized treatment plan outlining your diagnosis, recommended interventions, visit frequency, and realistic timelines for recovery. Most patients begin hands-on treatment during their very first session. Follow-up visits are structured to build on each prior session, with measurable benchmarks tracked along the way so you can see your progress in real time.
