Prevention & Care of Ankle Sprains

An ankle sprain is a very common athletic injury, especially in sports requiring lots of running, jumping, or quick directional changes.

Running on uneven surfaces or landing awkwardly after a jump or other maneuver can cause you to roll or twist the ankle to the extent that the ligaments of the ankle are overstretched or torn. You may even hear or feel a popping sensation.

Symptoms you have sprained your ankle include pain when attempting to use or apply pressure to the affected foot, as well as swelling and bruising of the ankle.

It can be very uncomfortable and dramatically interfere with training.

The first means of healing is the standard R.I.C.E. therapy: Rest, Ice, Compression, and Elevation. This addresses the immediate inflammation of the tissues surrounding your injury. After that, it’s important to allow complete healing of the ankle joint before resuming activity in order to prevent further damage and increase the risk of subsequent injuries to the weakened structure.

Sports chiropractic care is great for rehabbing strains like those to the ankle with active recovery treatment plans based on the severity and type of ankle sprain. Each individualized ankle sprain physical therapy plan is specifically designed to achieve proper motioning and alignment, as well as to strengthen the muscles and tissues surrounding the joint with specialized exercises for ankle sprains.

Regular sports chiropractic care is also great at helping prevent injuries such as these in the first place. Along with bracing weak joints, being cautious/aware of training surfaces, wearing the proper footwear for your foot shape and sport, and regularly warming up the ankle before activity, sports chiropractic care takes injury prevention even further.

With manual adjustments, soft tissue manipulation, and a variety of state-of-the-art therapies and technologies, we can help correct misalignments that are comprising ankle structures, increase strength, flexibility, and range of motion around the ankle joint, and analyze gait and other body mechanics, including an athlete’s landing and jumping techniques, that increase the likelihood of injury.

If you regularly participate in a sport where ankle sprains are common — or even possible — let Dynamic Sports Medicine provide you with effective therapies and proven expertise to fully heal with shorter ankle sprain recovery times and/or reduce your chances of an ankle sprain in the future.

Chiropractic Care Offers Basketball Players The Competitive Advantage

Sports chiropractic can help athletes in all sports maximize their performance and reduce the risk of injury. Basketball players are no exception.

In fact, because of the dramatic bursts of energy and the frequent stop-start motions required in hoops, basketball players often find regular chiropractic to be particularly beneficial.

Jumping, landing, sprinting, and suddenly stopping on hard court surfaces mean the lower back and legs take a lot of abuse in practice and in play. The impressive on-court maneuvers fans appreciate often result in skeletal misalignments in players that can affect the range of motion and flexibility, as well as cause muscle strains, sprains, and tears.

Players who include sports chiropractic as part of their training routine report improved overall mobility and flexibility as well as freer nerve communication, both of which are important for a player to perform optimally.

Chiropractic adjustments realign the body for pain-free play, and eliminate undue physical stress that can lead to common basketball injuries such as those to the lower extremities (foot, ankle, and knee,) hip and thigh strains, and back and neck sprains, among others.

It seems obvious that mobility is extremely important for a player to be able to quickly bend, twist, jump and otherwise maneuver on the court. However, many underestimate the role that nerve communication plays in hand-eye coordination and effective body mechanics. If nerve flow is impeded by spinal misalignment, not only will mobility be affected, but the information transfer from the brain to the body can be delayed.

Along with spinal and limb manipulations, sports chiropractic utilizes myofascial massage, a variety of instrument-assisted rehabilitation techniques, as well as exercise, stretching, and dietary assistance to improve speed, flexibility, strength, and balance on the court. In doing so, the risk of injury is reduced and performance is naturally enhanced.

What’s more, if a player already has an existing injury, sports chiropractic can work alone or in conjunction with orthopedics to shorten recovery time, leading to faster, more complete healing.

If you want the competitive court advantage no matter your level of play, let Dynamic Sports Medicine be part of your training routine.

Top 5 Benefits of Routine Chiropractic Care

It is estimated that chiropractors care for 30 million Americans annually and those numbers keep rising each year. Chiropractic care is a natural, safe and holistic approach to spinal care. It is an effective way to address certain injuries and recurring pain that may put the spine in an abnormal state. Many people associate chiropractic with back and neck pain, but chiropractic therapy can improve function across your entire body. A wide range of patients seeking optimal wellness and pain relief can all benefit from routine chiropractic care.

If you haven’t been to a chiropractor before or only visit on occasion for specific care, there are several benefits to making routine chiropractic care part of your well being resolution.

Better Mobility

The type of activity most people perform on a daily basis exposes them to stress and tension, causing spinal misalignment which leads to pain and loss of mobility. Playing sports, running, sitting at a desk all day or working on your feet for hours at a time can cause misalignment. Chiropractic treatment works with a series of bone adjustments and stretches that helps to improve range of movement, mobility and reduces pressure on the joints. This also improves blood circulation which, as a result, improves blood oxygen within the muscles.

Pain Relief

Pain, usually in the neck and back, is one of the most common reasons for visiting a chiropractor. Whether it is pain related to a sports injury, an accident, faulty mechanics, multiple repetitive motions, lack of core strength and flexibility, or an underlying spinal misalignment, they may all contribute to pain. Chiropractic care for pain not only offers traditional spinal adjustments for immediate relief, but many effective complimentary therapies like soft tissue manipulation, massage, and specialized stretches and exercises will keep you pain free.

Shorter Healing Times

Even with the most proactive preventative care, sometimes sports injuries happen. Chiropractic care uses a variety of therapy options such as electrical pulse stimulation, dry needling, myofascial massage and other techniques to encourage faster and more complete healing. In fact, studies show that chiropractic care is often better than conventional therapy options at reducing pain and restoring function—and without prescription medications.

Prevention of further injury

Alignment issues cause unnecessary stress on the body and can often lead to more serious injury. With consistent chiropractic treatment, patients are at less at risk of further injury since their bodies are stronger and in proper alignment.

Improved Immune Function

One of the main causes of immune system problems comes from subluxations, or compression of nerve pathways. Our immune system is directly connected to our spinal health and if the spine is out of alignment, it can disrupt our entire nervous system. Thus, weakening our immunity, making some more prone to colds, flu and other illnesses. Chiropractic care combines a variety of spinal manipulation to help relieve compression that can improve your immune system function. Caring for misalignments at the source produces faster results and an effective pathway to improved health.

Chiropractic care can help relieve discomfort, speed healing, identify ways to prevent future injuries, and improve your overall wellness. If you are ready to bring your health routine to the next level in 2020, call Dynamic Sports Medicine today and schedule your visit!

Home Remedies for Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a whole-body issue that requires a whole-body solution, which is why sports chiropractic is so effective at helping it. The chiropractic approach to healing is not just centered on pain relief, but in identifying imbalance and dysfunction wherever it is in the body that has resulted in foot and ankle pain.

Our care options for building strength and stability, increasing blood flow, and improving overall foot functionality to heal plantar fasciitis are non-invasive and don’t involve medications, injections, or surgical interventions.

But home care to complement in-office therapy is extremely important to completing rehabilitation. Below are several proven effective ways you can assist your sports chiropractic therapies and better encourage recovery from plantar fasciitis.

Lower Extremity Stretches

Tight, restricted calf muscles increase the strain on the plantar fascia, which both leads to overpronation of the foot and causes limited ankle dorsiflexion (the amount you can pull your toes toward your body.)

Regularly stretching the muscles in the calf and arch of the foot is good for both rehabilitation and prevention of foot pain, because it creates strength and adds stability to the area. Begin with gentle stretches based on your own personal flexibility level, and increase the tension as you establish your stretching routine. Repeat each stretch 10X per foot/leg beginning with one session per day and eventually increasing to two, preferably at the beginning and end of each day. Hold the stretches for 10-20 seconds before releasing.

Soleus Stretch (Calf Raises on a Step)

Stand upright with the front half of one foot on the edge of a step or curb. Slowly let the heel drop toward the ground until you feel a stretch along the back of the calf. This can also be done facing a wall by stepping one foot back and leaning into the wall until you feel a stretch.

Straight Leg Calf Stretch (Dorsiflexion Stretch)

Sit upright with legs stretched out in front of you, and, leaving legs on the floor, slowly pull/point the toes up toward the face until you feel a stretch along the back of the heel and leg. This can also be done facing the wall by pressing just the toes of one foot against the baseboard and leaning in for the stretch. This one can be done before even getting out of bed in the morning!

Anterior Tibialis Stretch

With one foot flat on the floor, place the top of the toes of the other foot on the ground and gently press until you feel a stretch in the top of the foot and up the shin. This can be done seated or standing.

Tripod Stretch

Begin on all fours and press the hips up into a tripod (triangle) position with knees bent. Tuck one ankle behind the other and slowly straighten the standing leg until you feel a stretch on the back of the ankle and calf.

Therapeutic Tools

There are a number of easily accessible, therapeutic tools that can help increase the strength and mobility of the foot.  Foam rollers, mobility sticks, textured balls, and resistance bands are all great for encouraging the release of tight muscles and helping improve blood flow and flexibility.

Rolling out tight and sore muscles in the calf and hamstrings with a foam roller before and after stretching warms the muscles and increases blood flow. As a bonus, it assists the lymphatic system in flushing the body of toxins.

Placing a textured ball or TheraBand roller under the arch of the foot and rolling it back and forth stimulates the nerve endings on the bottom of the foot and increases blood flow to the area. This is easy to do while resting or watching television.

For those with severe pain and limited flexibility, resistance bands can assist in stretching. By placing bands around the toes and pulling the toes/bands toward the torso, patients can get a more passive stretch, but still effectively enhance dorsiflexion.

Orthotics

Plantar fasciitis pain from tight calf muscles and over-pronated feet can often be addressed with supportive shoes or other orthotics. While these types of aids don’t address the root cause of the pain, they do often offer some temporary physical relief when on your feet.

Turmeric Supplementation

It can be tempting to repeatedly reach for NSAIDs when struggling with foot pain, but plantar fasciitis can take weeks and even months to heal. Taking OTC anti-inflammatories for an extended period can have a host of side effects including gastrointestinal issues, disrupted hormone levels (especially in men), and a polluted microbiome. Just one week of taking NSAIDs as directed can increase your risk of stroke by adversely affecting an enzyme that promotes clotting!

In addition, NSAIDs can impair the ability to build muscle which can be counterproductive to the strengthening exercises involved in rehab, so it may actually slow the healing process.

Turmeric, on the other hand, improves the body’s ability to heal in a variety of ways.
* reduces systemic inflammation
* encourages collagen production to speed the healing of wounds
* fights oxidative stress on the body
* regulates mood (pain and depression often go hand-in-hand)

As with any form of supplementation, taking quality, bioavailable turmeric is key to experiencing noticeable improvements.

Lifestyle Changes

To create an optimal environment for healing in the body, no matter what the complaint, good lifestyle habits are important. Eat nutrient-dense foods. Aim to get plenty of quality sleep, and seek to relieve stress in positive ways.

Remember that successful home care for plantar fasciitis requires consistency over the entire healing period. When practiced diligently, especially in conjunction with sports chiropractic care, natural healing for foot pain is possible. Contact Dynamic Sports Medicine today to schedule an appointment. We can assess your situation and recommend which of these home therapies might best assist you on the road to recovery.

Indulge Healthily During the Holidays

Most people dread the holidays because of the abundance of delicious food. Most party food is not healthy. If you are on a diet or trying to maintain your weight, what do you do? Do you starve yourself while everyone else is having a good time and indulging in all that succulent food? Do not fear. Your holiday worries are solved. Here are a few tips that will allow you to indulge without the guilt.

Keep your portions small

It has been said over and over again but it is worth repeating during the holidays – get (and eat) just a little bit of everything. You don’t have to say no to that piece of cake or ham. Just get a thin slice of ham. For dessert, you can get half a slice of cake. If there are different desserts, you can still try each one as long as you just get one piece or the smallest portion. You won’t gain too much weight this way. You will also feel full afterward.

Small plate

Get a small plate if you can. That way you have the illusion that you already have enough food on your plate. A big plate will make you grab more food to accommodate all that space.

Cheat Day

Most diets usually have a cheat day so why don’t you do that during this season. It’s the holidays and you are allowed to eat not-so-healthy dishes… in moderation. Give yourself a break or in this case, a reward for being so good the rest of the year. So go on, get another cupcake or chocolate truffle. You deserve it.

Choose healthy desserts

If you are hosting a family dinner or if you are having a potluck lunch, volunteer to prepare dessert. You can make a healthy trifle using yogurt and fruits. You can also make refreshing fruit sorbets. Sweet does not have to mean unhealthy. Use honey instead of sugar and use more fruits for that natural sweetness.

Indulge in other activities

Indulging does not always have to involve food. You can indulge in other activities. Here are a few examples.

Sleep

How much sleep do you get per day? The holidays are the perfect excuse to stay under the covers an hour or two longer. Heck, you can even sleep the whole day if you want to. It’s also so much nicer and easier to sleep longer during this season because the temperature is cooler.

Book a Massage

Christmas and New Year can be quite hectic. Set aside one day to treat yourself to one massage. Get a massage and even a sports therapy treatment and just allow all the stress to melt away. After working hard the whole year, you deserve to be pampered. Just call Dynamic Sports Medicine office to set it up.

Take the time to indulge your passions

Do you love to run but no longer have the time to do so because of your hectic schedule? Do you love to play football, basketball or another team sport for fun? This is the perfect time to grab your family and friends to head outside a good time. It will help you relax, laugh, and enjoy some while rejuvenating your mind and body. Doing something you love will boost your happiness level and help you get ready for the New Year.

The holidays give you lots of excuses to indulge in different things.  Just don’t forget your responsibilities to your health. Do not indulge now and be filled with guilt and regret come January. It feels good to indulge but your health and well-being always come first.

Back To School With Chiropractic Care

Even with so many unknowns in the world today, there are some things you can always count on when heading back to school:

* Backpacks will be heavy
* Back to school means back to sports
* Excitement equals stress for parents, students, and teachers
* Boosting wellness is vitally important

Regular chiropractic care can help!

Backpack Basics

While style, brand, and color may be your student’s primary concern when shopping for backpacks, yours should be size, shape, and construction. That’s because book bags fit and weight distribution are very important for reducing stress on growing bodies, as well as for maintaining spinal alignment. Look for backpacks with ergonomic straps that are wide (and preferably padded) and can be adjusted so that the bag doesn’t hang too loosely or too far down the back of the body. Encourage the use of both straps when they have them, or regularly rotating the side it’s carried on when they don’t. Crossbody bags may be an option as well so that the whole load doesn’t hang off of one shoulder all the time.

Getting in the habit of regularly cleaning out backpacks is also a great idea. Often, much of the weight of a book bag’s contents are comprised of things that no longer need to be in there.

Overburdened backpacks can eventually present in uneven shoulders and hips, as well as other skeletal problems that can lead to pain and affect growth. Spinal adjustments and routine monitoring for alignment issues can address many of the problems caused by heavy backpacking through school hallways.

Sports Conditioning

Whether your student-athlete took the season off or trained their summer away, sports chiropractic care can be extremely beneficial for entering Fall practice in peak shape. There’s a reason so many professional sports teams have a chiropractor on staff and this is it: when the spine is properly aligned, and areas of muscular weakness are identified, performance can be improved, and injury much less likely. Chiropractic care can make a dramatic difference in the health and performance of athletes of all ages and levels. With regular care, football and soccer players, cheerleaders, and swimmers, among others, all can experience greater strength, flexibility, and mobility, along with the reduced risk of injury, to help keep them on the field, court, and track all season long.

Stress relief

Back-to-school time is exciting, but it can also be physically and mentally stressful. Social, academic, physical, and health-related stressors, like sitting for long periods of the day, subconsciously adopting a hunched posture when anxious or uncomfortable, and overtraining in after-school sports or other activities can leave young bodies drained and misaligned, and young minds mentally stressed. It’s important to eat well, get plenty of sleep, and ensure kids are not over-scheduled.  The addition of regular chiropractic care to other healthy lifestyle habits can reduce tension and improve circulation, keeping bodies — and minds — in a more relaxed state.

Overall Wellness

We all want to keep our families as safe and healthy as possible, especially in the face of Covid-19, seasonal flu, and even the common cold. Regular hand washing and other hygiene, proper nutrition and exercise, supplementation when necessary, and appropriate social distancing contribute to our efforts toward better wellness. Chiropractic care can support all of those efforts. By encouraging spinal health, restoring joint function, and supporting nervous system communication, all body systems can function more optimally. Spine and limb adjustments when necessary, therapeutic massage, transcutaneous electric nerve stimulations (TENS), and many other proven treatment modalities can relieve pain and stress, allowing for better overall body function, including immunity. Of course, we aren’t saying that chiropractic care cures Covid, but it is a great preventative tool for both improving the body’s natural ability to resist and recover from infection. We can even assist with nutrition counseling and lifestyle modification plans.

While making what are sure to be many back-to-school checklists this time of year, put chiropractic care at the top. Dynamic Sports Medicine can help ensure that your students (and you) are ready to face this school year in the best way possible!

Frequent Knee Injuries & How To Prevent Them

The knee is the largest, and possibly most complex, joint in the body. It is where all of the major bones of the leg join together with ligaments, cartilage, and tendons to facilitate movement by allowing the leg to bend.

Because it has numerous moving parts and performs so many weight-bearing functions, the knee is prone to multiple types of athletic injuries, especially in sports like soccer, football, basketball, and volleyball where sudden stopping, starting, pivoting, and cutting is often required during play. Runners, skiers, and gymnasts are also at increased risk.

Overuse injuries from repetitive motions and natural wear and tear to the joint can result in general knee pain and stiffness, along with worn-down cartilage, meniscus or tendon tears, and tendonitis. These types of injuries not only make it uncomfortable to participate in your sport but can eventually make it difficult to climb stairs or get up from a seated position.

Acute injuries to the knee, such as fractures, dislocations, and ligament injuries, tend to be associated with more traumatic events like awkward landings or a direct impact with another player or the ground and can have an immediate impact on mobility.

While some of these injuries will immediately or eventually require surgery, many knee complaints can be addressed through chiropractic care, especially if caught soon enough. That’s because proper body alignment plays a key role in knee function and overall body mechanics.

Oftentimes, knee pain and injury don’t even originate in the knee but are a result of a limited range of motion in the hips and/or lower back that places undue strain on the knee joints. Correcting misalignments or lack of flexibility in these areas can relieve the stress on the knees, reduce pain, and prevent further pain and injury. On the flip side, pain that originates in the knee may cause an athlete to compensate in ways that create misalignments (and pain) elsewhere in the body.

These minor discomforts, when ignored, can end up becoming major problems. Often, patients report experiencing escalating or off/on pain for months or even years before finally tearing a meniscus, ACL, or facing another injury requiring surgical intervention. It’s best to have knee pain seen about right away.

The thorough assessment and diagnostic methods utilized in sports chiropractic can be useful in not only pinpointing the source of the pain — whether in the knee or elsewhere in the body — but also in formulating an appropriate treatment plan.

Your chiropractor may suggest:

* Xrays or other imaging
* Spine or knee adjustment to ensure everything is properly aligned
* Electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) and/or soft tissue massage to reduce inflammation and increase blood flow to the area
* Deep tissue or trigger point therapy to reinforce mobilization
* Stretching and strengthening exercises to encourage flexibility and stability

If surgery is required, sports chiropractic can complement orthopedic efforts as an important part of rehabilitation during the post-op period. Many of the same therapies used on patients who don’t need surgery are extremely effective at alleviating pain (and limiting the need for prescription medications,) and reducing healing time. Furthermore, chiropractic rehab focuses on strengthening and stabilizing the knees to prevent future injury.

Even for athletes who currently have no pain, sports chiropractic can help keep it that way.  When included as part of a regular training program, chiropractic therapies are extremely effective at both reducing the likelihood of injury and optimizing performance.

Sports chiropractic is increasingly an athlete’s first stop when experiencing pain during training or play. If you’re dealing with knee pain, whether new or old, mild or severe, contact Dynamic Sports Medicine for an evaluation.

Common Ankle Injuries

Ankle pain and injury can happen to anyone whether you’re an athlete or not, but 25 percent of sports injuries are foot and ankle related. These types of injuries are common for those participating in sports like basketball, soccer, football, dancing, and other running-and-jumping activities and include:

*Strains and sprains
*Achilles tendonitis/tears
*Plantar fasciitis
*Stress fractures
*Fractures

In soccer alone, ankle sprains and foot fractures are some of the most common injuries sidelining players at all levels.

While you can twist your ankle stepping off a curb or on other uneven surfaces, the speed, and force involved in athletic ankle injuries often make them much more severe, so it’s important that they are diagnosed properly and treated correctly.

When they aren’t, chronic pain and even disability can occur — and not just in the foot!

An ankle that does not heal and function properly can affect mobility and gait, requiring compensation from other parts of the body, leading to misalignments and discomfort in the knee, hip, and back as well. The resultant pain can affect not only your participation in your athletic pursuits but the way you walk and perform everyday tasks.

While it’s always a good idea to initially rest an injured ankle, painful foot, or other body parts, it’s also important to find out what’s wrong with it. Sports chiropractic uses a variety of diagnostic tools, including x-rays, MRIs, and CT scans to thoroughly assess the source of the pain and determine the cause. Once any swelling goes now, a chiropractor can manually evaluate the foot for injury-related misalignments that will prevent complete healing or might have led to the injury in the first place.

Sports chiropractic is great for helping to reduce pain and speed healing without prescription medications and the many side effects that often come with them. Instead, chiropractic uses a variety of proven techniques such as electrical muscle stimulation, cold laser therapy, Pulsed Electro Magnetic Field therapy (PEMF), Kinetisense Technology, and stretch therapy to initiate and boost the body’s natural healing processes.

These rehabilitation therapies complement manipulations that may be needed on the ankle to encourage greater stability, strength, mobility, and flexibility that not only will assist in complete healing but could help to prevent injuries in the future.

Sports chiropractic routinely identifies misalignments in the body that might have contributed to a weakened ankle structure, as well as other misalignments that resulted from a recurring ankle injury or chronic ankle pain. It’s amazing how often knee, hip, and back pain is related to the original ankle injury, or vice versa, and addressing one can lead to relief in all areas.

Treating sports injuries quickly and properly is the best way to get you back in the game, but a strong focus on injury prevention is key. Regular sports chiropractic is a non-invasive, extremely effective means of both treating and preventing ankle pain and injury. Specialized expertise in body mechanics, nutrition, and conditioning allows sports chiropractors at Dynamic Sports Medicine to help athletes keep athletes injury-free while optimizing performance through improved range of motion, flexibility, and strength.

DSM Is Now Offering 3 New Services

We are proud to announce our 3 new services: Massage Therapy, Stretch Therapy, and Kinetisense Technology for Functional Movement.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy is an important part of athletic training and recovery and can have a dramatic effect on the rehabilitation of sports injuries.  Dynamic Sports Medicine’s team of recovery specialists are skilled in multiple techniques including myofascial release, soft-tissue mobilization, cross-fiber, trigger point, and compression massage, among others.

When used as a therapeutic tool during recovery or maintenance, massage therapy offers many physiological benefits:

  • soothes sore muscles and aids in post-workout recovery
  • reduces inflammation that causes pain
  • loosens muscle constrictions and adhesions for reduction of pain and greater mobility
  • increases flexibility and range of motion for improved performance
  • assists in the rehabilitation of injury by improving circulation
  • encourages relaxation for better rest and recovery

Stretch Therapy

Stretching is an important and often neglected component of an athletic training program.

But many sports injuries or other experiences of pain during movement are the direct result of muscles being too tight around the joints or otherwise constricted due to a more generalized focus on opposing muscle groups.

Dynamic Sports Medicine offers trained stretch therapists who create personalized, hands-on stretch routines that can result in greater athletic performance and ease of everyday movement.

While your program may include specific stretches you can and should do at home, stretch therapy is a manual technique in which the patient plays a passive role, and the therapist does the work.  Similar to massage, the patient relaxes while the therapist utilizes a vast knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and body mechanics to guide patients through postures targeting specific muscle groups and connective tissues surrounding the joints.

By utilizing gentle, carefully applied pressure to specific muscle groups, therapists seek tension release, but never pain. Patients often notice an immediate improvement and leave their sessions feeling relaxed and rejuvenated.

The many benefits of professional stretch therapy include:

  • reduction in pain from tense, tight muscles
  • greater range of motion, mobility, and strength
  • lower risk of injury
  • better circulation and blood flow
  • improved posture
  • knowledge and accountability for improving body function with regular stretching

Kinetisense Technology for Functional Movement

Dynamic Sports Medicine is pleased to offer Kinetisense Technology for functional movement to complement our hands-on therapies in helping our patients achieve their therapeutic goals.

The Kinetisense Advanced Movement Screen (KAMS) utilizes 3D technology in a state-of-the-art assessment tool that enables us to capture and analyze a patient’s movements, and teach them how to move more effectively.  Whether the patient is an athlete or an older patient trying to reduce the risk of falling, KAMS can:

  • measure balance and highlight areas that need strengthening
  • gain insight into mobility patterns
  • determine the active and passive range of motion capabilities
  • accurately assess posture from all angles to determine its role in pain and well being

With the hard, patient-specific data provided by KAMS, we remove the guesswork in the creation of targeted treatment plans to elicit better patient outcomes in a shorter period of time.  The data reports provided by KAMS allow patients to not only feel improvements but see improvements in balance, range of motion, strength, and movement.
